The series centers around 10-year-old Kenichi Mitsuba, a regular schoolboy from Tokyo who befriends Kanzo Hattori, an energetic ninja from the Iga clan. Hattori and his younger brother Shinzo, along with their ninja dog Shishimaru, move in with the Mitsuba family. They quickly become part of Kenichi’s daily life, helping him tackle common challenges—schoolwork, bullies, and homework—using Hattori’s ninja skills. Their main antagonist is Kemuzou Kemumaki (Amara), a ninja from the rival Koga clan, often accompanied by his pet cat Kagechiyo (Kio). Despite constant mischief and rivalry, friendship and understanding sometimes emerge between the two ninja clans.
